I guess I could start with some tear jerking remarks that this is a dream come true.? My very own website where you get?to catch a glimpse of me, Melissa Kuch, and my writing journey.?
Instead let me get right into it.? Today is December 11th and not only is this?a monumental day in the life of Melissa Kuch, starting my own website and introducing my writing to the world.? It is also a day that I will provide you with some music trivia.?
As I was grocery shopping today in Key Food, I heard the song “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree”?playing on the radio?(as I am sure many of you have since Thanksgiving and even prior since the holiday season continues to start earlier and earlier every year).? Well Brenda Lee, the singer of that song, was born today December 11th back in the year 1944.? Why I bring this up is that Ms. Lee recorded the holiday song “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree” in the year 1958.? The song was released and failed to make the charts.? It was re-released two years later where it ended up not only becoming a huge hit but today it places at #4 in the Top 10 All Time Christmas Songs.?
Why I happen to mention this in my first post on my website is that sometimes it takes a while for dreams to come true, just like it took the world a while to realize how much they love that Christmas tune that gets stuck in your head for days and years to come.? This is a dream come true for me to have a platform to showcase my writing to you.? Some of it is humorous, heart wrenching, inspirational and just my imagination having fun.? Because writing to me is not only fun but something I believe I was born to do.? I truly believe, as you will see in my posts, that it hasn’t always been an easy journey and it still will have bumps and one-way streets and no U-Turn signs (yes I know I live in Queens) but still despite all of these road blocks in life, there are still people who continue to offer their support and belief that there is something there.? With that being said, a special thank you to Gerik Goncalves who helped make this website possible, and to my husband Mike who has stood by my side every step of the way and has always been my first editor to either tell me “Yes it’s good” or “What the hell was I thinking?”? You need someone with that kind of tough love and honesty to keep you going as a writer.?
And a special Thank You to all of you who have stopped by today.? I hope you will come again as I continue on this journey.? With that being said, in?honor of? Brenda Lee’s birthday, may we continue writing and “dancin’ merrily, in a new old-fashioned way.”
